The Urban Inter-Tribal Center of Texas (UITCT) is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization with a vision to create and sustain a better everyday life for American Indians. Our mission is to strengthen and encourage the health and economic wellbeing of American Indians. Our core values are excellence, quality, loyalty & respect, teamwork, tribal community, and cultural awareness.
In 1971, UITCT was established to meet the needs of the Native American community in Dallas/Fort Worth. Many of the area’s tribal members were living in the DFW area primarily due to the Indian Relocation Act of 1956. UITCT’s goal was to assist tribal citizens in making a transition from rural and reservation areas of the United States to large urban centers such as Dallas. The Urban Inter-Tribal Center is committed to serving American Indians who are members of federally recognized tribes by offering a wide range of services including medical, dental, pharmacy, counseling, and employment & training.
The Employment & Training Department is committed to serving adults age 18 & up who are unemployed, underemployed, or low-income American Indians, Native Alaskans, and Hawaiian Natives residing in our department’s 13-county service area of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The Employment & Training staff is dedicated to providing one-on-one career counseling and resources to meet the individual needs of each program participant. Our department is here to serve the American Indian community by providing support through the following services:
